Ask whether the students have seen any movies or television shows set in the Middle Ages, for example Disney's Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood or Sleeping Beauty, or the Matthew Broderick film LadyHawke which is frequently rerun on television. Older students may have seen action epics like Braveheart or Excalibur, or the Brother Cadfael television series on PBS. Discuss how music was used in many of the same ways as we use it today, despite different times and living conditions.
