Sweet Bird Classics in Seattle:

Claire Cowie

SBC is providing technical assistance for a phenomenal collaboration in March.

On March 4, 5, and 6, 2010, Sweet Bird Classics partners with Pacific Musicworks and Seattle Chamber Players  to produce Songs of War I Have Seen, a unique juxtaposition of two masterworks created nearly 400 years apart.

Heiner Goebbels’ Songs of War I Have Seen draws on Gertrude Stein’s journal about everyday life in Occupied France during World War II.  Musically, Jacobean viol music meets contemporary chamber music.

Claudio Monteverdi’s pioneering Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorida was created as entertainment for a carnival party in 1625, and combines a poignant drama with vocal fireworks.

The performances take place at Seattle’s unique concert space On the Boards.
